National Gallery London: Imagining Leadership through Art and Culture

Recently, I led a guided tour, “Imagining Leadership through Art and Culture”, at the National Gallery in London for students from the Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society at The Ohio State University (USA). Huge thanks to the organisers for the invitation to share leadership reflections related to some of my favourite pieces currently on display. Pieces included:

  1. The Wilton Diptych
  2. The Arnolfini Portrait
  3. The Adoration of the Kings
  4. The Ambassadors
  5. Equestrian Portrait of Charles I
  6. Self Portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria
  7. Queen Charlotte

    Dear Edward,

Thank you for your interesting post.  Might any notes of your guided tour be available?

A virtual tour of NG only the gallery website only became available earlier in the month and may be of particular interest to your Ohio colleagues. It needs to be refined to make it clearer which room you are in!  If you sort of pair it – they are sadly not automatically linked – to the online floor plan. That plan has good resolution images of each picture in a numbered room and the notes which you have enumerated for each painting.  Overall, a really helpful resource.

    Best, Jonathan Powell
