Should Legal Education Be Transformative?

11 Oct 2023. Updated 30 Jan 2024.

Anton Sorkin edits the Journal of Christian Legal Thought, a peer-reviewed publication of the Christian Legal Society, and kindly invited me to write a piece on character formation for their upcoming issue. The essay ‘Should legal education be transformative?’ is available on the Oxford Research Archive (ORA) ahead of publication in JCLT.

I was delighted to see that the essay has already been cited by Malona et al in their article on legal education and culture. (Cheers!)

Anton’s also launched a new substack, Cross (+) Gavel, which advances CLS’s mission to help students integrate faith with study and the practice of law. Check it out.

Update: 30 January 2024

Volume 13, Number 2 of the Journal of Christian Legal Thought is now available online. My essay sits alongside excellent contributions from David VanDrunnen (“Law and the Cardinal Virtues”), Kenneth Townsend (“The Necessity of Hope in Legal Education”) and others.
